Corporate Social Responsibility
Emerald City Nursery has always considered a great element of our Social Responsibility is to teach our children about other children who for various reasons are less fortunate.
We have actively participated in charity events and have contributed to many worthy causes where our actions have brought direct hope and help to many children and their families.
We genuinely enjoy sharing information with our children about the world we live in. Our children learn and understand that there are children on the planet who are less fortunate than we are. Over the past ten years Emerald City Nursery has raised over 100,000 DHS in support of different children's charities.
Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE
Make-A-Wish Foundation - Parents, children and staff have raised over 60,000 DHS for the UAE Branch of Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our special fundraising days for this cause are always well supported by our Nursery families and we are honoured to bring happiness to the children residing within the UAE.
The Children eligible to receive their special wish are children whose life expectancy is not longer than 18 years due to life threatening illnesses such as childhood cancer.
Make-A-Wish is an international non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of children afflicted with life-threatening medical conditions. The Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE office was established in 2003, it’s mission - to grant wishes for the children across the Emirates."
"Each year in the UAE, children are unfortunately diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, thanks to advances in diagnostic and therapeutic technology many are now being cured while others have their lives prolonged for many years but some, unfortunately, lose their battle. The Make-A-Wish Foundation steps in to assist these children and their families by providing an avenue for hope and strength.
By focusing on the positive, the Make-A-Wish Foundation brings magic and joy to these children each year, by granting their most cherished wish. This is an experience that the children, their parents and siblings look forward to often holding onto their wish to get through the tougher times.
From the magic and power of having their most cherished wish granted, these children are given hope, strength and much joy."

The School of St Jude in Tanzania
We work closely with the charity ‘The School of St Jude’ and enjoy a once a year fundraising day to help this worthwhile cause.
School of St Jude in Tanzania – Emerald City Nursery sponsors the education of a young Tanzanian school girl - Glory Joachim who resides with her family in Arusha. As part of ‘The School of St Jude Programme – Fighting Poverty Through Education. This is truly an inspiring children’s charity founded in 2002 by (Australian) Gemma Sisia. school for kids
More information regarding Gemma and her school is available on The School of St Jude website. http://www.schoolofstjude.co.tz
St Jude's is the remarkable story of an Australian girl from the bush (Australian outback) - Gemma Sisia, and the school Gemma built in Tanzania that has transformed the lives of now thousands of African children – Gemma's idea was and still is a simple one – fighting poverty through education. The School of St Jude's (named after the patron saint of hopeless causes) is for the brightest of the poorest children, whose destiny would have been to remain trapped in a cycle of inadequate education, illiteracy and poverty.
During the summer of 2010 Ms. Elizabeth, Emerald City Nursery Manager and Ms. Sharon Ward, Director and Staff Personal Development Coordinator travelled to Arusha, Tanzania to visit The School of St Jude. Their trip was financed by Beautiful Minds Nurseries so they could personally meet Glory Joachim, the Nursery sponsored child, her family, as well as Gemma Sisia the founder of The School of St. Jude.
Our senior staff’s visit was a truly inspiring experience and most beneficial as they were in the position to witness first-hand the exceptional work Gemma Sisia accomplishes and more so the trip was enlightening for Elizabeth and Sharon to observe how all generous donations help so much to change and benefit the lives of the improvised children.
SMILE
The SMILE charity is one that cares for young orphaned railway and street children in Calcutta, India.
In the summer of 2008, our senior Nursery staff Ms. Sharon and Elizabeth devoted their holidays to spending time helping with the daily care of the orphaned and abandoned children who live on the streets and around the railway stations in Calcutta, India.
The humility that Sharon and Elizabeth experienced during their devoted time to caring for the children was an experience that filled their lives and minds with the knowledge of how important it is for all of us to care for each other.
The Dhaka Project
Dhaka Project – A very effective and joyful project was one called – ‘The Shoe Box Appeal’ for children of the Dhaka Project in Bangladesh. We collected everyday items which we (often in Dubai) take for granted such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc. and sent them to the children.
The Dhaka Project strives to maximise human potential by bringing hope and providing sustainable skills and dignity to better the lives of the children within the Project.
GETH in Ras Al Khaimah
This very little known UAE charity helps to care for babies and young children incarcerated with their mothers in prison by providing clothing, diapers, milk formula, baby food, cots, sheets, blankets and other necessary items. When needed, we begin a collection at Emerald City Nursery for our Nursery Staff and families to donate these items.
The innocent children are so often penalized through the actions of the adult - this is a very sad situation to occur, the children can spend the first three years of their lives locked with their mothers inside jails. Our social conscience confirms to us that if we can, we will assist these children to the maximum of our abilities. By donating clothing, toiletries, toys and educational material we can offer a little more to these young children's lives to offset the limited reality of their daily existence.
"The values that we teach our children at this young age will remain with them throughout their lives – the children learn from us – the adults in their lives. Our good and honest attitudes and opinions are vital contributions for the children’s early learning years.”
Ms. Bernadette King-Turner Founder and Director of Beautiful Minds Nurseries.
More information regarding our Social Responsibility will very soon be shared with you.
